The Arts enable students to develop their creative and expressive capacities by learning about the different practices, disciplines and traditions that have shaped the expression of culture locally, nationally and globally.
Students are both artist and audience in the Arts. They make, respond and learn to appreciate the specific ways this occurs in different disciplines including the performing arts and the world of visual representation and expression.
The Arts includes Dance, Drama, Media Arts, Music, Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design.
9 Drama
- Focus on theatre sports and improvisation

What will I learn?
In this class you will embody different characters as you build on your improvisation, theatre sports and play-building skills. You will explore a range of theatrical styles and learn how drama can communicate stories, ideas and emotions to an audience.

- Create digital media and visual stories

What will I learn?
In this class you will explore how media is used to tell stories, communicate ideas and influence audiences. You will develop practical skills using digital technologies while creating a variety of media projects.

9 Visual Arts

What will I learn?
In this class you will develop your artistic skills while exploring a variety of artforms, including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography and mixed media. You will investigate how artists communicate ideas and meaning through their work and explore artworks from different cultures, times and places, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists.
What will I do?
- Create artworks using a range of materials and techniques
- Experiment with different art styles and processes
- Research artists and analyse artworks
- Document and reflect on your creative ideas and artistic development

What will I learn?
In this class you will learn how designers communicate information and ideas through images, typography and layout. You will explore design thinking and investigate how visual communication is used in areas such as advertising, branding, packaging and illustration.
What will I do?
- Develop design ideas through drawing and sketching
- Use manual and digital design methods
- Create logos, posters, packaging and promotional designs
- Learn about typography, layout and visual communication techniques
- Present and evaluate design solutions
